Meet The Team

Director of Operations, Owner
The heart of Southridge Brewing, Brad Heys. Vision, teamwork, and bringing dreams to life—that’s what Brad Heys is all about. As our resident restaurateur and the glue that holds this project together, Brad has been instrumental in shaping Southridge Brewing into everything it is destined to be.
If you know Wilmington, you probably know Brad. Ten years ago, he opened Kava Haus, a beloved coffee café at the heart of town. More recently, he and Jen Purkey expanded with Trail Haus, a cozy breakfast and lunch spot along the Luther Warren bike trail. And if you’ve been around long enough, you might even remember Brad slinging drinks as a bartender at the General Denver!
Brad has a special gift for spotting potential—in buildings, businesses, and people. He knows how to assemble a stellar team and empower their talents to shine. Whether he’s making pizza dough, scheduling repairs, or working the room with a drink in hand, Brad has his finger on the pulse of the action.
A proud resident of Wilmington for the past 20+ years, Brad has poured his heart into making Southridge Brewing a space where community happens. When you visit, don’t be surprised if he stops by your table to say hi.

The Meaning Behind the Logo
The logo captures the two elements at the core of Southridge Brewing: Community and Craft. We are here to share our passion for food and beer while building up the communities we call home. The logo is a celebration of those values, blending craft, tradition, connection, and the spirit of togetherness.

Design Highlights:
-
Southridge Brewing: A Name rooted in our neighborhood and our commitment to local ties.
-
Font: Inspired by an old-school German brewery’s font, we pay homage to our fondness for traditional beer styles and the timeless dedication to craft.
-
Three Waves: The three waves hold multiple meanings. First, they represent Lytle Creek, which runs through the Southridge area near the brewery and plays a vital ecological role in the watershed. Second, the waves represent the furrows of the farm fields of our community and the farms supplying the ingredients for our food and beer. Finally, the three waves represent the three founders behind the vision for Southridge Brewing.
-
Barley: A core ingredient and symbol of beer, the barley also honors Clinton County’s agricultural legacy. The barley also contains a hidden beer glass symbolizing pints shared with our community.

The design represents not only Southridge Brewing, but connects past, present, and future reminding us that every pint poured and meal served is a step toward a stronger, more connected community.
Cheers to excellent food, craft beer, local love, and building something great together!
